Hey!

Yesterday morning I went to the Senior Centre - I had the best time! We spent the morning teaching the Seniors how to play Nintendo Wii, by the end of the morning they were easily beating me at bowling! We helped serve up their dinner - which meant hairnets, platic gloves and disposable aprons (Becky - are you paying people to get me to wear this stuff??) To top it off, just as I was serving food in my gorgeous outfit a tv crew showed up and filmed me! I was on Rochester news last night :)

The afternoon was spent at family services; every tuesday the centres get deliveries from food link. The food then needs unloading, sorting out and shelving - normally the Community Place has to hire a complany to do this, but luckily we were there to help out! These are then made into food parcels and given out to those who need them - people are given food stamps, but when it gets near the end of the month families tend to run out, which is when these food parcels really come into play.

Last night we went to see a baseball game; its a laid back family affair - not alot of shouting (apart from one bloke, who really went for it). It was good to experience a new game, but I didn't really understand what was going on and it was suprisingly slow! A lot of swapping sides and messing about - but a good atmosphere and good hot dogs!

Today we went to the science museum and planetarium with summer school - good fun, the two girls I was sat with curled up and had a nap during the planetarium presentation (not that it was boring! I learned loads, did you know that Pluto is no longer considered a planet?). Back at base this afternoon for arts and crafts - then just as we were leaving me and Matt water bombed one of the councellors - so we are expecting full blown water fight tommorrow!!

Tommorrow is our last day at Community Place; none of us are looking forward to goodbyes. We are showing a presentation at dinner with lots of pictures for the kids to look at; then a mini olympics in the afternoon so hopefully no one will get upset!
