Evening all;

Feeling the Jet lag for the first time today; we were all up at 7 to do some background reading and get ready for a breakfast reception - after waking up at 5 everyday so far, it's typical the only day we had to be up we could happily have slept in! The breakfast however; was well worth it.

We had an introduction to Naz and a talk from Dr. Marie about The Community Place, this involved drawing self potraits (pics up soon!) really highlighting the artistic talent we have in the group....

This was followed by a trip to the Community Place sites; this was amazing. Everyone we met was really enthusiastic and seemed really excited for us to be there. We were given our schedules and uniform; and we each have time on different projects - I am mainly on the Summer School project; working with different age groups each day. I am also working at the Senior centre; SOOP (works with young adults on employment education) and Family Services. We had a drive around the local area; looking at the different areas the projects are based in and looked at some of the houses The Community Place let out at low rates. I can't wait to be involved!

Last night was the international dinner; where we all ate a bit too much! All the international students had cooked traditional dishes and we all tried a bit of each- I loved the beef stew! (Like the one from Kefalonia Nev's). All the countries really went for it with their performances; and our Max did us proud with talk about Leeds Met (feat. some fab Brass Band music).

This week we are being hosted for dinner by some of the staff we have been working with; tommorrow night we are going to Dr. George Eisens home, which is at Lake Ontario! So hopefully the weather will stay nice!

Will put pics up when I can (I left my camera lead in the dorms, whoops). Had some amazing cup cakes yesterday; they were about as big as my head! Off now to cheer Matt and Max on in a Ping Pong tournament we are having against the Turkish students - he has everyone convinced he is Britains number one; even i'm starting to think it might be true....
