I have been in Sydney for a week now and I am loving it so far. I've met up with a few people from my 'buddy list' who I had been speaking to before I came out. I landed in Sydney at 6am on Monday 16th March 2009 after a 24hr journey from Manchester and changed at London for the International flight.
I stayed in the YHA central organised through RealGapn and been in touch with Work & Travel who look after me when I'm out here in Australia. They have been very helpful and the people down there are really nice.
I randomly met a girl at the hostel on my first day and found out we went to the same Uni! That's so bizzare but we have now become room-mates and found a place to live contracted to the end of July.
During my first week, the weather has been sooo nice and manged to get a bit of at a tan already. So far, we've done a few touristy things including going to the Botanical Gardens, Toronga Zoo, Bondi Beach, Darling Harbour to see the Harbour bridge and Opera House. It's also amazing to see during the night time too.
There are so many backpacker pubs/clubs around Sydney, it's so much fun and it's a great way to meet people. Allready I am looking forward to settle in Sydney for a few months and then head towards the East Coast with Sarah when she arrives just before my birthday. The plan is to look for a job and go from there.
I met Thomas st WTC (Work & Travel) on Thursday - it was his first day here and like me, there was no-one else on the same flight. Craig and Clare at WTC asked me to go say hello so I did and welcomed him into the group. I also met Louise at breakfast in the YHA on the same day. Already we have been spending lots of time together and I can imagine there will be lots more fun to be had. We went to Toronga Zoo on Saturday, it was sooo funny, lots of funny pictures will be uploaded am sure.
