We had the most amazing time in Melbourne. We spent the weekend with our friend Kane and his family- they were honestly the loveliest people ever and we felt so spoilt. Kane took us around everywhere- it was very handy to be shown around by a local, and it was great to experience the true Aussie suburbia.
There were lots of highlights to our weekend in Melbourne. It is a really nice city and has lots to do if you know where to go. On our first evening there we were taken to Phillip Island to watch the famous Penguin Parade. At dusk 'little penguins' come in from the sea to their burrows in the sand dunes. It was so cute. On Saturday we spent the whole day touring the Great Ocean Road which was a lovely winding road along a very beautiful coastline We stopped off along the way and saw lots of famous landmarks. That evening we were invited to a true Aussie house party.
We spent sunday visting the infamous 'Ramsey Street' which was really cool and Jo and me were so excited. Afterwards, on our way to a wildlife sanctuary where we saw koalas and stroked kangaroos, we stopped at a winery in the Yarra Valley and did some wine tasting- what a lovely afternoon.
We spent some time in the city centre too where we visited the Melbourne Museum, Parliament House, Immigration Museum and Federation Square. Shopping's meant to be really good here, but we had no time to browse. We also met up with Louisa for coffee- felt like we were back home.
Probably our most exciting experience was 'Neighbour's Night'. It was so much fun, and we had the chance to mingle with the stars and watch good old Dr Karl Kennedy perform on stage. Also we came 5th out of 41 teams in the quiz!!!!
