Hey folks!
First blog entry...sorry for the delay! I'm settling in well, though the cluture shock was intense! I'm in a house with no electricity, sporadic running water (ie none most of the time), no mobile phone signal, and it's up a road barely any taxis agree to tackle. But we have a really nice community as it's where all the teachers live, complete with chickens and cows that happily come into our 'garden' on a regular basis.
Being the only white people for miles we do get stared at a lot, and yelled as well and most people seem to know our names now, despite us never having met them before!
The kids are very cute, if a little over excitable. Honestly, they went mental over a ball in pe the other day...fist fights broke out and our netball game descended into chaos. We played/taught football as well...i taught the rejects (i can sympathise with them having been in the non squad my entire sporting life!). Great fun, although I did get hit on the nose by a ball which all the kids found hilarious. Truly epic experience though, as the sky was so clear and we could see all of Mt Meru. One of those times when I think 'bloody hell, I'm actually in Africa. Insane.' Still a little surreal...
Will catch up next week I hope, so much more to say but I have so many emails from you demanding people!!
Miss you all. x
