My first Pad Thai was delicious and only $5. Yum.
Beware: long winded story coming up!!!!
We got a cab from our hotel to visit the palace, it was about an hour away from the airport. But when we got to the palace they said we couldn't go in coz Monday is a holy day and we weren't dressed correctly. Which was fine, I got to go to a market nearby.
An official suggested that we catch a tuk tuk to another temple, so we went with him. My first tuk tuk ride was fun. Scary, but fun. These drivers have no fear.
We asked him to take us to a department store so that we could get some sunscreen, but on the way he took us to 4 different stores where they try to sell us stuff that we don't want. The driver gets fuel vouchers if the tourist buy stuff at their shops. First one was a tailor. Since we were only going to be in Bangkok for another 3 hours we walked in and then straight out. Next one was jewelry. The driver then told us about his deal with the owners and that we should stay in the shops longer or he doesn't get any vouchers. Then he took us to another tailor and we made an effort to look interested. But when we told them we were leaving in 2 hours, they fully kicked us out. They were Really rude. We got back in the tuk tuk and told the driver what happened, I was just like, take us to the shops NOW. He says just one more and lie to them, look interested, and Angie said there's no way were lying. So we went in and we met up with a really nice but rough Canadian girl that was at the previous store. The tailor was arguing with her coz he reckoned she couldn't afford anything in the shop. He wanted her to pay to see the dresses. He kicked her out and then us too, 'go back to your hostel' was his insulting line to Abby. Our driver wasn't happy with us at all. Can't believe he made us feel bad when all we wanted to do was go to the shops.
We then went to the airport to go to Chiang Mai. At the airport we booked some tours that we're going to do, got a discount through the airline.
I'm going on an elephant trek on friday and going to spend the day on phi phi island when we're in Phuket. And two other tours around the cities. Cost us 5050 baht each. Which is $160. Cheap for 4 tours. Plus they're picking us up from our hotel.
Another successful flight with no vom!!!
Our driver picked us up, his name is Smiley, real name is Bum. Lol!! Smiley suits him better coz he doesn't stop smiling. He lives at the resort where we're staying. It's so hot but beautiful here. I'll be taking pics tomorrow. I'm sharing a really nice room with Abby, and Angie is above us. We're going to swap around, but I'm happy where I am coz the air con is right on me!!!!
Our all day cooking class is tomorrow. I'm so excited. This is what I'm looking forward to the most.
Miss you, love Jess.
