I feel like I have sooo much to say! Last night at the hostel was good, I felt really safe and less lonely. I was sharing with a 17 year old girl from Canada called Emily who had a great conversation with me about travelling. I really waffle when I'm nervous. She was heading to Venice in 8 days time and I told them all about it :) it made me feel useful again! I was also sharing with 2 girls from New Zealand and an oriental lady who spoke some English but I hardly spoke to them. I slept well until the oriental lady's phone went off and sounded like someone screaming! I had a think and I don't think people can complain about hostels, you have to expect it not to be spotless and you have to expect to be woken up by people coming and going! I enjoyed it!
I went to the arc de Triomphe again today and went inside and up to the top! The stairs nearly killed me! It was worth it at the top tho :) I've pretty much given up using my camera, my phone is sooo much better. I also visited Notre Dame and now really want to buy the film when I get back lol! I walked along the Champes Élysées and looked at all the pretty things I couldn't afford. They have old shops that we don't have anymore, well not near Romford, like a virgin megastore and Naf Naf! You can also buy a car on the high street and McDonalds has a cafe!
While exploring Paris I noticed that everyone smelt like they had been drinking, I guess they had and everyone wears nice shoes regardless of what else they were wearing!
I tried to visit the Basilique Sacre Coeur but found it was in the roughest area around and gave up trying to find it after about 10 minutes and got back on the metro as quickly as possible!
I headed to the gare de lyon station for something to eat and to catch my train to Marseille. It was the best train ever!!! Fact! It was double decker and I was at the top :) I still haven't got a window seat :( but it was amazing so I didn't care and I was sitting forward. It was a really pretty journey through France from top to bottom, too pretty to read or write so I listened to music. If anyone has watched the Stargate series, I was sitting opposite a guy who looked like Richard Woolsey! He's also the Dr in Star Trek - Next Generation! It was weird!
I got to Marseille and quickly found myself lost, properly this time, with the sun setting and a little bit of panic. But I called the hostel and she guided me to it :) I don't think I really like Marseille and have booked my train for 3pm 2moz and have decided to stay in a hostel in nice for 2 nights instead of here. The hostel I'm in tonight, the Hello Marseille, is nice though and I have met a nice Irish man who is sleeping in the bunk under me. I haven't got his name but he is also going to nice tomorrow but he is hitchhiking :( The staff that work here are lovely and from all over the world. There is a lady from London who is working here and she stayed as a guest last year and managed to get a job for this summer.
There doesn't seem to be much to do in Marseille, I'm going to go to the beach and I also plan to go to some small islands by boat before I catch my train to Nice!
Goodnight world - speak soon!
