So with a restless and hot evening with no air in our hotel room we didn't get a sleep in after yesterday's journey. It was up and ready, we needed to do washing and with most of yesterday spent getting here we had lost a day in London.
First, breakfast. Real cocopops and frosties!!! Chris and I indulged our childish sides and enjoyed a sugary breakfast. No croissants anymore :(
From breakfast we consulted the map and headed off to find the laundromat. Please don't be wrong this time google....10 mins later and sure enough the laundromat. Waiting for the washing to complete its cycle we used the free wifi from the coffee shop across the road. Folding our clothes we realized that we forgot to wash Chris' pants....looks like he'll stink for a few more days. Yay me ;) at least I didn't have to wash his dirty undies in the sink by hand again. Romantic honeymoon.
After washing it was back to the hotel to drop off the clothes, gather our day bag and head off in search of the big red tour buses.
The big red busses are everywhere! It's like the movies and the taxis are so cute! Finding the first bus stop for he tour we also stumbled across the Australian house. Place for passports and visas. Also used as gringots bank in Harry potter films.
Onto the hop on hop off big red bus and 30 stops in all on a 2 and a half hour round trip. Learning the history of London as we went along and getting some good photos along the way we saw big ben, the london bridge, the prettier tower bridge and Westminster abbey to name a few. We drove around the roundabout that Chevy Chase goes around and around on in National Lampoons and then stopped off at Buckingham palace for some close up shots, then back on to go to the London Dungeon. Basically similar to the horror shows on the gold coast but about the gruesome history of London. It was quite scary and Chris got to be a prop in one of the scenes. He was burnt at the stake for crimes committed against the queen and turned into a chard corpse with an eye falling out. Well done Chris, even though his dying/burning alive wasn't believable. Too much smiling going on.
It was really quite interesting in the dungeon, we also got to ride the boat roller coaster and the mini tower of terror(which was supposed to symbolize you being hung).
Sufficiently scared we then headed off to find a typical English pub grub and beverages. Near Trafalgar Square we stopped in at a pub and had a few pints and really good meals of meat and three vege, with real mashed potato.
Since the buses we needed had stopped running we had to walk the distance back to the hotel. Tired and thrilled about our day we settled down to catch up on blogs, we know you guys have been dying for them.
Tomorrow we hire a car and drive to the Cotswolds.
