Yesterday was pretty much a travel day. We left our hotel, had an argument with the train ticket lady because we had no PIN on our credit card when paying for the tickets and she refused to believe it, just shaking her head and telling us to put in our PIN (in Polish) and us repeating no we can't we aren't magic. We saw two chinese ladies carrying their massive suitcases and a Polish man stopped to help them up he stairs at the station, they said no, he helped anyway, then requested money from them at the top of the stairs. Chivalry is definitely dead over here. We had the excitement of riding in a booth with 6 other people and then convincing the taxi driver to take us to our hotel for less than the actual cost because that's all the Polish money we had left.
Checked into our hotel and enjoyed an afternoon of National Geographic channel tv.
Today we left our hotel at 5am, walked the 2mins to the airport (we've picked well placed hotels so far) and proceeded with the rigmarole of airports. Chris got pulled up at security for having a water bottle in his bag (we totally forgot about it) then his whole bag checked because one water bottle meant he was probably carrying more contraband. Luckily he got away unscathed. A salami, pickle and mustard sandwich offered for beak fast by the airline and then an hour and 20mins later we are in Munich.
Figuring out the train we arrived in the heart of the city and only minutes from everything.
Quick trip to the laundromat (we are getting good at figuring out how to use a laundry in many different languages and also we seem to be the point of reference for other travelers trying to figure the process out). We met a nice bloke from London who picked our accents instantly because he has friends in Melbourne. Dancing to our national anthem on the radio(Down Under) they must have known we were in the country, we folded our washing.
Finished up at the laundromat we found a nice little bakery and indulged in a pink iced doughnut :) yum!
Finding our hotel, we then set out again for the supermarket and some lunch. On our way we saw the local shopping mall and a random event that called for people to hit disabled people in wheelchairs with blown up baseball bats. Don't worry the people in wheelchairs were laughing and no one was stopping them like it was a terrible thing so we assumed they were consenting??
Finding a supermarket we stocked up on our usual supplies, water, razors(we get to keep them now! No more planes for a while) and lollies. We now have 12 bottles of sparkling mineral water, by accident, so opening them all we hope the hydrogen carbonate will dissipate and make them flat mineral water. Here's hoping.
Now sitting in the hotel bar enjoying a drink and typing away on their free wifi. Tomorrow we head on another tour, this time to Dachau and then a beer and brewery tour.
