Alright let's get this blog updated again.. So where the bloody hell am I ? ( Lara Bingle not a fan of u ..) . Well I've managed to make my way down to Peru ! I took a quick two hr flight from Quito to Lima ( the capital of Peru). I spent two nights in Lima and lucky it was only two nights because Lima I'm not a fan of you. You are both dodgy and a bit of a s*** hole packaged into one. I did like the weather and Starbucks....and that's about it! I met my new tour group the second night and we all went to dinner after our intro meeting . It was good to try some local beverages including beer and the famous Pisco sour. I've never had Pisco before but I'm a fan. The following day we jumped on a bus and headed down to a small town called Pisco which was literally only there for tourists to take a tour of the ballista Islands . I opted not to do the tour because I'd just been to the Galapagos and already seen a lot of wildlife already . As much as I can never get sick of looking at sea lions . Apparently they were uglier then the ones at the Galapagos so that made me feel better I missed it . After our overnight stay in Pisco we got on another bus to Nazca. It was about a two hour drive South of Pisco . On the way we stopped at a local Pisco winery and got to see how they make Pisco and of course some taste testing . Next stop was Huacachina which is a small lagoon town surrounded by sand dunes. I got to try some sand boarding and riding in sand dune buggies. It was so much fun ! It was definitely my adrenaline rush for the day.
We eventually got into Nazca. Nazca is a town in the middle of the desert made famous for the Nazca lines which are basically these sketches in the desert approx 2000 years old . It's still a mystery how they were made according to our guide. We got to see two patterns from an observatory tower . There is an option to fly over more of the lines / patterns on a very small plane but once I heard the majority of people get motion sickness i opted not to. It costs about 100 USD as well .
That night we took a night bus to our next destination - Arequipa . This is he second largest city in Peru . The bus took 10 hours . I've decided I absolutely hate night buses and if I had the choice I would just pay extra to fly . The buses aren't that bad here in Peru though . The service on the bus reminded me of what you get on a plane. It had a hostess and also had a safety demonstration similar to what you get on the plane minus the oxygen masks and life jackets. We have just arrived to our hostel now . The plan is to go explore the city as tired and beat as we all are. Our rooms aren't ready because it's only 9 am . I need a coffee ASAP .
