Our tour guide walked us around the Arequipa today and I must say I liked it much better then Lima. There are beautiful cathedrals and monasteries around the main plaza. I got to try my second empanada which is like a pastry bread thing filled with meat or vegetables. I had one of the local traditional ones - beef, chili and lime. It was really nice . Also tried some local Peruvian coffee .. And it was a let down again. Yep Aussie coffee is still number one. I'm looking forward to Europe I'm sure they'll have good coffee there .
After breakfast we ventured to the local market which mainly had food. Got to try some local fruits.. Forgotten all the names but man there were some tasty fruits. I finally got to buy some nice looking oranges .
The markets were good to go to . I just didn't like the meat section it was gross and it stunk. There were flies as well.
There was the option of trying a juice that contained frog in it. Of course I didn't go there. I think I would have vomited if I had any.
In the afternoon some of us visited a local nun monastery . It was quite large almost like a city . It was crazy to think the nuns were never allowed to leave the place. We decided to get a tour guide . I may have listened for the first two rooms of the tour we visited but then I totally zoned out .
That night we all went to dinner and then drinks after . Had a good night out with some dancing . Only disappointment was that I requested an Armin song to the DJ and he didn't know who that was .. Wtf everyone knows who Armin is come on now !!
Tomorrow we head to Canon del Colca. Which is basically a deep canyon approximately 3191 m deep ( not quite the Grand Canyon ...) . Hopefully it will be worth the four hour bus drive !
