Hola from San Cristobal !
We arrived here this morning after taking a 12 hr bus ride from Oaxaca. It was not the best time of my life but I've survived even though I felt like a bag of s*** when we arrived in San Cristobal. I swear I was that drowsy my legs were about to give way when we got off the bus.
I managed a nap though when we checked into the hotel and then met up with the group for an orientation walk and breakfast. I had a Mexican breakfast that looked and tasted a lot like nachos with chicken and salsa sauce on top! I can't believe they eat that for breakfast !
The rest of the day we were free to do whatever we wanted . I went with some people to check out some temples and cathedrals . The first one we saw was up a mountain so we had to climb a lot of steps . Every opportunity I get steps or mountains to climb is what I consider my training for the Inca trail. Hopefully I won't lose too much fitness / become a porka come January when I'm there !
I ended up separating from the group after this time because I needed to go to the hotel to change. When I arrived I wanted to charge my phone and realised I had left my adaptor at the other hotel . That's two items I have lost already , I also lost my beloved New York Yankees baseball hat. I'm bloody hopeless .
I found out two of the girls are the first victim of gastro . It's only a matter of time before I get it . I don't mind if I do get it actually because with the size of my gastro kit I kinda want to use it all up so I have more space in my backpack. Maybe I'll go eat some raw street meet tonight ?
Tonight I'm spending my night at the hotel. I'm so tired from the bus still and I'm contemplating sorting out my backpacks so that I can potentially send stuff home . I'm thinking the first thing to go would be my Birkenstocks . Although I've worn them nearly everyday .. Maybe my nike winter jacket . Nah one of the girls on tour said ill need it for the inca trail... Hmm yeh it's looking like Its going to be hard to pick stuff to send home.
