We went to Goa to relax and rejuvenate after a hard month travelling...BUT we left as totally lazy beach bums!!! Anyway, Goa is so lovely!
Christmas and New Year on the beach was great, especially going for a swim at sunset after our turkey dinner for Christmas! It was strange being somewhere so hot but we could definately get used to it! We pretty much spent 2 weeks lazing around trying to get a tan, which as we're sure you'll notice from the pictures, we didn't do too badly!! Heather sort of overcame her fear of the sea, as there was only 2 panic attacks, so she did quite well!!
One of the best things to happen was when we were on Agonda beach sunbathing and looked out to the sea and saw a dolphin really close to the shore. Jess and Cat swam out to it and at one point it was only about 5 feet away. It was so amazing to be that close to a wild dolphin, although we were a bit dissapointed that we didn't get to hold it's fin and it take us for a swim like the whale in Free Willy!!
Despite the fact that we became so lazy, we did manage to go on a day out to Dudsagar waterfalls, which are the 2nd highest in India. We had a swim and it was the coldest water ever, we only stayed in for enough time to take a few pictures!! Also there were some quite scary Tigerfish in there as well!!
After feeding the monkeys there we went to a spice plantation and learned about various spices and trees. It was as exciting as it sounds but the reason we went there was to have a paddle with the cutest elephant, Gonga!! It was so much fun to play with her and we washed her and then she gave us a shower!! We were really scared to climb up on her but then her handler told us she weighed 4 tons so it wasn't too bad for her!! She gave us a lovely shower, despite the fact that for the rest of the day we stank of elephant manure!! It was just brilliant to be that close to an elephant!
Leaving Goa was a bit sad, it felt like we were going home from holiday, however we're both ready to get back into the faster paced travelling again down south! We're heading to Hampi for a few days then down to Kerela where there are apparenly some even nicer beaches!! Yay!
