Kuta in Lombok was strange. It was so quiet even though it is their high season. This was probably due to the fact that I didnt go surfing so avoided the beach where everybody headed to and spent the day reading and tanning.
Harrassed is an understatement for what I endured from the children who sell bracelets to tourists. Their tactic is to make you say you will promise to buy from them later, so when they see you later that night they chase you down the street, surround you, and make you buy. At one point I was surrounded by 7 children who followed me to my room and waited outside whilst I baracaded myself in, for an hour, until they left to go home and eat. Also on my doorstep was an old woman who I had 'promised' to but a sarong from. She scared me not only because she had a glass-eye but tried to talk to me through my door and refused to leave.
I was quick to get out of Kuta and headed to Sengiggi instead...
