The first stop in Bali was Kuta. This place was 99% Australians, as for them, this is like our Spain and easy to get too. The beach was beautiful, but busy, with hundreds of surfers! Which I liked, very much. The streets behind were just as busy with hundreds of shops and even more bars and clubs. The first day there, Joey had made friends with a local surfer who I, in a bid to get discounted lessons, made to rub suncream into my back. Suprisingly, this worked, however instead we just hired a surfboard and I just took tips off Joey how to surf. Unsuprisingly, I was terrible.
Staying in our hostel was a 60+ dutch man called Louis. He was the coolest old man I have met yet who travelled pretty much his whole life, smoked weed pretty much his whole life and was just a hippy. We made quite good friends with this guy- he was wise.
The nights in Kuta are busy. First we ended up in Alley Cats where the place is full of Australian surfers. However, the one I ended up speaking to started a conversation with how much he hated England, and the ladette English girls... considering I have become quite patriotic since I have been travelling, I left him to slag off England to another poor girl. The main club is Sky Garden, 4 floors of music and an openair bar at the top. I got very drunk as usual and did the standard calling the family whilst they eat their dinner. Great.
The next day we went back to beach and topped up the tan, attempted to surf, drank, and went out again.
As much as Kuta was great to surf and drink, I was glad to get up to Ubud and try and get some culture again...
