After leaving Byron Bay we stopped over in Surfers Paradise for two nights.... there was not a lot to do there during the day, just a good night out... we left Surfers early morning in the pouring rain to catch our greyhound to Mooloolaba. We stayed there for one night. Again there wasn't a huge amount to do there, but it was a pretty town and we walked along the beachfront and had a look around. We then caught a greyhound up to Noosa, where we stayed for onje night again. We got there quite late and were far from the town so ended up just using it as an opportunity to catch up with sleep and rest!
We then caught a greyhound to Hervey bay where we currently still are. We stayed here for one night before depating for our Fraser island trip the next day at the crack of dawn. We were unlucky with the weather on Fraser and our campervan could have done with a bit of renovation... it poured torrentially for the first day and everything was soaked! Setting up camp for the first night in a deserted camp 'area', we made the most of it and started up the BBQ and the goon consumption! The weather improved the next day, but was still showery... we also broke down for about 3 hours and due to a dodgy radiator.. so after a lot of waiting around we stocked up on water and went to visit the wreck... it was then a race against the tide to get back along the beach to the camping area.... no rain this time just gale force winds! The three groups from our company all parked up in the same area so was good to meet lots of others! It also turns out that many of the people on the Fraser trip are doing to same Whitsundays sailing tour.. so should be good fun!
We have the whole day to kill in Hervey bay before catching our bus at 8.30 tonight... another 13hr drive up to Airlie beach.... really looking forward to the sailing trip, just praying for good weather!!
