Last night, as part took a few of us out to go watch a play called Traveling. It is an acrobatic show that has gotten rave reviews, and I was really looking forward to it. Before the show, we met up in a restaurant nearby…That was when this weird night started. A couple of my companions and I sat down at a table in the back away from a program director and some other students. The waiter rolled his eyes at us when he realized not everyone scheduled to come had arrived at that point. When we ordered, my friend told him " I like chorizo, can you recommend something." The waiter looked up from his pad and peered over his glasses. He stared at my friend blankly and said "no." Then the waiterm coughing into his hands., brought us our plates. When we left, he gave us pats and seemed really happy. After a few glasses of wine to wash down the terrible food, and just left the restaurant laughing at the worst waiter in the world.
Anyway…we go to the theater. We were in line to be seated 15 minutes after the show was supposed to start (bienvedinos a Buenos Aires time). We waited in line to hand in a ticket…I had to go to the bathroom. The person told me I could come back and would direct me to my seat. When I came back 7 minutes later, the line had disappeared, the curtain to the entrance was down and there was one employee standing by. He said I couldn't enter because the acrobats were performing on the other side and I can't just walk through the show. I was pretty disappointed and felt crummy. They gave me my money back and a complimentary glass of Mendozza Malbac, which I sipped at the bar located just next to the theater. I got to chat with the bartender, the chef, and a waitress (it was a slow night for them at 12pm). This was the first time I've sipped alchohol at a bar as I'm underage according to U.S. law. Also, They gave me a free tapa. So, it wasn't too bad that I couldn't enter after all…That's part of travel.
Before I knew it my friends came out of the show smiling and raving about the amazing things the acrobats could do with their bodies. Did I like the show.? They asked. You bet! (I later told some of them the truth of the matter…)
