Flew from Bali, Denpasar to Perth, arrived in the early hours of our first wedding anniversary. Slept at the airport and were greeted with torrential rain. Struggled to find any accomodation in Perth, our only option was to stay in a hotel in beautiful Mandorah. 40 miles south of Perth. Perth is the most isolated city in the world!!
After Mandorah stayed in Bunbury, further south, this was the nearest place to Perth that had affordable accomodation.
From here we here we hired a car and visited beautiful Denmark, Pemberton, Esperance. For the first time in my life i watched wild dolphins playing in the sea only feet away from where we were staying.
After 2 weeks in WA, we felt quite dissalussioned, and trapped, with every back packers accomodation fully booked. Travelling here is far from easy.
Booked the Indian Pacific train to Adelaide, and were really looking forward to meeting Stevens Cousins and family. Only to find out that on the day of travel a freight train had derailed and destroyed miles of track!!
We felt officially trapped, it was too far to travel back to Bunbury, and all accomodation was fully booked. There are no buses to Adelaide to Perth. All hire companies had no cars available. Thinking on our feet the only option was to fly, the cheapest place been Melbourne. Considering we booked on the day of travel we got quite a good. deal. Bye Bye Perth.
