After an intensive 2 weeks of driving we finally made it to tropical Darwin. On the way we passed through Cober Pedy, Alice Spring, detoured to Uluru (Ayres Rock), Kings Canyon, Katherine, Litchfield NP, Kakadu. Passed Salt pans, huge eagles, camals, kangaroos, wallabbies, snakes. In total travelled 3, 500km. For days there was just nothing, but road houses. Slept in the car most nights in lay bys & free campsites. Met some characters along the way.
Luckily as soon as we arrived in Darwin we managed to score jobs working as aeroplane cleaners. Really cushy plenty of smokos. Also all food is provided and you can take things home, when the boss wasn't looking, the Philipinos called it 'Shopping', erm more like stealing. Any way we had lots of fun & mets some really lovely people.
Living in a tent especially in a grey hound track is probably one up from been homeless. There are benefits though no house work, no cooking, no bills, only 25 pounds rent per week for the two of us. You could only do this in Darwin, it hasn't rained here for the 3 months we've been here. We washed in the local olympic sized swimming pool, beautiful set in a tropical garden.
We have really enjoyed our time here. Feel very healthy & relaxed!!!
