So back in LA again and we had an exciting day ahead of us when we booked to go to Universal Studios. Had heard a great many things about it and we weren't disappointed. Started the day with a couple of rides. Back to the Future first, a virtual simulator but in an actual car from the movie, very fun though a little jerky, bring on the travel sick feelings. Next was the Revenge of the Mummy. Were a little concerned by the warnings and so put our stuff away in a locker beforehand. Just as well it was a mega roller coaster pretty much in the dark, front and backwards. It started off quite serenely then just as we felt it start to take off they took a photo. The end results were very amusing. Liz was there with big Marisa eyes, for those who don't know that's very very big and open. Jen on the other hand has her eyes firmly scrunched up not wanting to see what was ahead. You had to see the picture but the contrast between us both was hilarious. Kept us giggling right up until the next ride and another picture! Jurassic park this time, a water ride-we never learn!!! Didn't actually get too wet though even though it was a massive chute right at the end to escape the T-Rex. The effects were brilliant we have to say. This photo equally amusing but this time Liz semi-normal and Jen actually hiding behind her hand to protect her from the drop!?!?!?!?!
Then we went to a couple of shows, a really funny one on special effects with audience participation, we did not volunteer! And one on the movie Backdraft with some wicked flames burning the building around us. The best one by far was the Waterworld one with some semi-famous people in including one from the OC and from the new Pirates movie. Show was amazing though, (we did stay well out the soak zone this time) with the highlight this massive seaplane coming flying over the arena walls to land in front of us. Cue lots more pics! The other main thing we did was the tour of the studios going to see all the places where they film hundreds of films and TV shows. Some of the best, note photo, wysteria lane from desparate housewives. Jen was severely excitable, could not restrain her!!! Went through the sets of war of the worlds, the new national treasure 2 movie and king kong tried to attack us on the way round...as did jaws, it was a dangerous ride! So cool seeing all the places where they actually film and was def a fantastic day.
On our last day in the US then we didn't particularly have anything major planned until we found out that certain famous people were going to be just round the corner doing a hand and footprint ceremony. Look at the pictures, you'll know who we mean!!! We'll save most of the details for when we get back but needless to say we got very close and even got 2 autographs each. Plus there was more, the Oceans 13 premiere was happening later that night so we saw all the stars walking up the red carpet for that too. Seriously there is so much more but you'll all just have to come see us when we get back!!!!! We have saved some pretty fantastic pictures, we wanted to tease you!
So ended our American trip on a high. Onto Fiji next. Fill you all in soon. Liz and Jen xxxxxxxx
