hello everybody..we're in very sunny San Diego. we travelled from Yosemite down to San Francisco and then on to La and stayed the night, then on to San Diego....so we're very confused where we are, what the day is...?
So arrived on Sunday and found our hostel pretty easily, settled in and took a walk round our neighbourhood...the Gaslamp district! its actually really nice...not too many beggars, very classy!! The city seems unlike alot of the ones we've visited in the US as its much more 'European!' fewer big old buildings, more 'pretty' shops and cafes. So got less then a block and found an ice cream shop...Ghiradelli's (suggested by Liz's dad!) and had a fantastic ice cream, not to mention the FREE CHOCOLATE!!always good! so after this we took a walk round then went for a look in some clothes shops...Jen had to be very restrained which does not come easily to her when there are clothes around!! that evening we also went to the cinema, conveniently opposite the hostel to watch Shrek the third!!very funny..apart from all the girls screaming..'justin timberlake!'..no we didnt thank u very much!!
Next day we went to the San Diego Zoo in Balboa park, managed to find our own way here using public transport..we're getting there slowly! Its meant to be the best zoo in the world and by the end of the day we would agree! Saw many amazing animals, which involved a hell of a lot of walking as it was so huge!! Saw some larger animals that we've never seen in an English zoo like polar bears..got some brill pictures of them swimming, the snakes, giraffes and elephants were also an amazing sight! included in the ticket was a guided bus ride around the park, which gave us an opportunity to see the animals we couldn't find by foot and some info on them. We finally got round to eating a traditional pretzel and churros (a long sticky thing that tastes a bit like a cinamen donut!) had a brilliant day tho and left smiling like kiddies having seen some of our fav animals!!
The on Tue we hit seaworld to see all the water animals we'd neglected yesterday. Could go on forever about today as had SOOO much fun but gonna have to shorten it and save stories for when we home else we'll be here all night. Highlights included the dolphin show though, the very first thing we saw. We thought we'd sit in the 'soak zone', not right at the front cos that would be silly but a little way back thinking we'd maybe get splashed a little. Not so!!!!! It was an awesome show (getting into our american words guys!) I will sya that first and foremost but my god we got soaked! The cute little dolphins were b*****s for their splashing tricks they had been taught. Even that didn't seem so bad but when we thought the worst was over along came a  whale (maybe!?! we weren't sure) and we were completely drenched!!!!!!! You need to see the pictures to appreciate it!! Good fubn though, lots of jumps etc that we managed to catch a bit on camera.
Saw loads more such as Cirque de la Mer, sharks, haunted lighthouse, penguins, arctic cove, and we touched some dolphins!!!!!!!!! (Jen very excited, parents do you remember??) You think we'd have learnt our lesson having got so wet earlier but not so! We had just started to dry off when we saw a water rapids ride. People coming off looked a little wet but not all seemed that bad. Thought we'd give it a go anyway, couldn't be any worse than the dolphin show!!! Again proved wrong. Ride fun but when near the end we saw a waterfall approach our faces turned to horror, they took a picture at that point to prove it!. You literally went right under it/through it you get the picture. The other people in our boat had ponchos, we did not!!! Soaked through has a new meaning, again pictures to prove!!! We were quite hysterical at this point!! You should have seen us walking round afterwards, waddling like penguins ourselves and wringing out our clothes. Fun was had by all though. We well loved the day and it flew by with all the shows that were going on. Ended on a high with killer whales that were amazing. So cool to be a trainer, we want new careers!
So hope you enjoying our tales of afar. Keep posting messages, we love feedback!! Miss you all. Liz and Jen xxxxxxxx
