So we've been travelling up the east coast for nearly a week now and stopped off at several places full of gorgeous beaches. Just about hot enough in the day to get back into sunbathing on them now too! First off was Coffs harbour where we went and saw a big banana!!! Yes as weird as it sounds. The place is well known for this so we stomped for an hour to get there along the beach and creek so quite a pretty walk if bloody tiring. Meant we just had to stop in the cafe when we got there for some exciting banana food, they mix everything there, banana coffee, banana burgers, banana and cheese sandwiches. very odd, we just went for simple banana cake but it was really good and defeated us both. They have this whole banana plantation there you can look around and a shop full of gifts that were quite fun. Also next door were a candy shop where we saw them making the hard fruit sweets you get, plus free samples of course. And a puzzle shop, got the boys more excited, full of games and toys. Somewhere different to go anyway!
Next stop was Byron Bay where the hostel wasn't brilliant but the beach was lovely, really soft sand. Place full of hippies as very close to Nimbin, where everyone goes to get high - no we didn't go there - but just spent some time lazing on the beach, too scared to try going in the water just yet though. Wandered some of the shops but didn't go in many, we're perfecting window shopping, even walked past the lovely looking ice cream shop, dunno whats happening to us!!
Moved up to Brisbane with a coach journey punctuated in the middle by a very funny stop where this american guy we'd met called us very proper - his words - led to us cracking up at the thought of us being two proper english girls, if only hew knew us!! Brisbane we continued a theme and stayed at a hostel called banana benders!?!?!? Spent the first day wandering the town and finding a really cheap cake place - yes we're back on track with the junk food but who can resist mud cake! Next day spent some time in a parkland close by that was really pretty and aghain warm enough to sit out in the sun for some time. Even watched a wedding party going past posing away for photos. Wandered down to the city botanical gardens too down by the river that were a lot bigger and quite pretty but prefered the first lot. The rest of the day was spent hunting for cameras as we've gone from 2 to 0 in 5 days, impressive!!! Bloody technology!
Now in Noosa Heads which surprisingly is a nice little town with beaches etc...sound familiar! Had a wander by the river the first day in a hunt for the shops and heading for a beach today, its tough I know. Speak soon guys love us xxxxxx
