So we left u guys in Airlie beach! we loved it so much here that we decided to stay an extra day (that and we couldn't actually get on the greyhound till the following day!!). Our hostel was only a ten minute walk from the town so we frequented town a lot! the weather was really nice and sunny so we spent a lot of time by the sea. there was also a 'lagoon', which was man-made but really nice still! so spent a good afternoon frying! the shops in Airlie Beach are really cool, so picked up some souvenirs for some lucky people!we're poor tho so sorry if u dont get anything!!!
The next day we went to a cute little markety-fete type of thingame!! was really nice, lots of crafts and clothes. and some crazy boy tap dancing for, no joke about 2 hours non stop!! anyway sat on the beach and boiled again! Later that night we decided on a night out, went to a (surprise surprise) Irish pub!!! Also went to an open air bar which had live music, settled in with a jug of beer and chips, yep very manly but it's cheap!! Ended up going to a club, which had on a wet t-shirt competition, was very boring, although the men were loving it! so we left and went back to the Irish bar for a boogie to live music!! good night!
Next stop was Townsville, home of Magnetic island, not that we made it there. Quite a big place surprisingly so took us a while to wander round it all. Was really quiet there though, we figure everyone was prob on the island. Spent some time looking at the shops, we've become masters at window shopping and not spending much. Took a walk along the very long beach too but thats lliterally all there was a beach, no shops or cafes which we were really surprised at. The only thing they did have was an ice cream parlour however, so yes of course we stopped and had one!!
Didn't spend long in Townsville because we were looking forward to heading up to Cairns which is a much better place to spend some time and right by the Great Barrier Reef so lots of companys advertising trips out there too. We did one of these one day on a cute little wooden ship, sails and all. Took us to a couple of different locations on the reef where you could snorkel and dive to your hearts content, a little cloudy unfortunately but gorgeous coral. The second place they took us was a tiny tiny sand island too, literally a 20ft stretch of sand completely in the middle of the ocean, covers up at high tide so how they find it.... Stood on that for a bit, walked from one end to the other in ooh 30 seconds maybe, stopping to write our names in the sand, come on we're tourists!! Then everyone swam back to the boat in time for lunch aboard. Quite a long journey back but all good as they lavished us with wine, cheese and biscuits and fresh fruit, can't be bad! Good day trip in all! Looking forward to spending some more time here before our last stop in Singapore so will be making the most of it. Speak to you soon folks xxxxxxxxx
