Today was the day where the soreness kicked in. Jackie kristin and I weren't bad- our calfs hurt a little bit and the bottom of our feet but that's it. Pam said she felt it though all over- her ankle is even swollen from one of the falls which stinks. My dad said he feels it in his thighs and calfs as well- which I have to say if he was ever getting tired on the volcano he didn't show it. I think we're all proud though that we did it together. Today Jackie Kristin and I decided to walk to the hot springs which is about three miles away... Which wouldn't of been bad if I wasn't wearing flip flops- because of that towards the end I formed some nice blisters where the leather strap was rubbing my skin. It's weird though because back home I would never be like yeah let's walk three miles to go swimming and here it's no big deal. It's just normal- the hot springs was really nice too when the sun was out. We got to lay out and they had a bar there which was nice as well. Pam and my dad met us there after they got massages and they made friends with some guy who's from here that we hung out with for a bit. We all even did a rope swing, which I was scared out of my mind to do at first but I did it anyways, it just took me a little longer. We ended up even getting food with these people that was fun a little awkward but if you're going to get the experience you might as well try new things and enjoy the people who are there. Well, that decision ended pretty badly, I think that when coming places you need to do your research yes, but not to the point where you think everyone is going to rob you or has bad intentions. One of the comments was don't you think it's weird that three didn't even speak English? And the response back was don't you think it's weird we don't speak Spanish. I think that is such an American way of thinking- everyone should speak English. No. We came here, we are the outsiders, we are the odd ones, not Spanish speakers. And I'm not going to lie I've definitely just expected people to speak English but it doesn't work that way, especially not here. The English spoken is minimal and Spanish is really want you need to speak. Whatever though we ended up going out and met some cool backpackers who were staying at a hostel and drank with them for a bit after dinner and it was so much fun. It's so interesting the people you meet who came here, there were people from Australia and Britain and all so much fun. They were just going with the flow and it was awesome.
