Ahhhh it's here! I knew it would come, I just didn't know when. Tomorrow will make seven weeks I've been out of the US and I've been experiencing what I like to call Lost in Translation moments. Not really anything specifically about living in Czech, because honestly, it's not that different from the US when you compare it to other parts of the world, but more-so there are little 'luxuries' I've started to miss.
I think they're more to do with taking a break from work and not wanting to spend money than being on a foreign continent, but the two together sure do test me sometimes. I can't complain, so I try not to, but boy do I miss... Target, a television remote, manicures, my stereo, my most comfy couch in the world, the freedom of driving, my trusty bed tray (from Target, of course), a full length mirror (until you've lived w/o one, you won't get this), ah and a microwave. Quite the luxury we take for granted.
On top of it all, my laptop quit so I had to buy a little HP mini notebook to get me through. Ugh...try buying a computer with a language barrier. Not my idea of fun. We couldn't even test the thing because while they have them on display, the screens are locked and they won't give you the password. Nick argued with the guy, got the password for like a minute, but I didn't even know what I was buying to be honest because everything was in Czech. The features, the menus...everything. But, it works and luckily I have savings...
Thanks for letting me vent! To leave everyone with a piece or two of good news...we're off to visit Nick's Oma this weekend and to pay respects to his grandfather who passed away last May. We're going to stop through the town he was born in also, which should be fun to see and learn about. Also, I'm starting TEFL classes next Monday, April 26, which will help keep me occupied and put me one step closer to seeing more of the world!
Love from Praha...Jenny
