Hello everyone, hope you're all having fun back at work after a relaxing christmas! hee hee! (Becky hopes the Jeppesen crew are coping well without her) We had a lovely untraditional christmas and spent boxing day sunbathing in Hyde Park.
Before new year we caught up with people we'd met earlier on our trip. Lyndsay showed us around the city including a ride on the monorail and Lina took us to Bondi Beach and Wooloomooloo for a delicious world famous pie from Harry's Cafe De Wheels whose customers included Richard Branson, Pamela Anderson, Shane Warne and Ainsley Harriot.
On new years eve we headed to The Botanic Gardens and after an hour and half queue we secured our place where we spent the rest of 2007! The day was nice and relaxed watching the gardens fill up with 20,000 people eager to begin their new year celebrations. We had a fantastic view of the fireworks at midnight above the Harbour Bridge and Opera House.
We made use of the good weather taking a ferry across to Manly Beach and spending days relaxing in the park.
After Sydney we headed to Surf Camp where we had a cool party on the beach in true Australian style. Jenny had an early morning surf lesson and even managed to stand up once! Becky is yet to overcome her fear!
Our next stop was Byron Bay which was a nice hippy town on the beach where we saw how surfing is really done!
In Brisbane we met up with a friend we'd met in Africa and had a really nice meal out with her, she may even be visiting the UK sometime this year!
We're now in Noosa and visited the amazing Australia Zoo today, crocs rule!! Took lots of photos and had a brilliant day, especially the live shows. Been pretty lucky with the weather the last few days but are heading up north through the more tropical climate so getting pretty humid.
Hope you're all well and enjoying 2008 so far.
Off to Hervey Bay tomorrow, speak soon!
