Alright Ladies and Gents,
SO I am in Budapest. First I apoligize for all the weird spellings as the keyboards in hungary have a bazllion letters on them. My Uncle and his friend picked me up from the airportand we went home and had lunch. Then I went and walked to the Danube and walked up and down. After I came home and met my cousin John. John, Peter and Gabor (my cousins) all speak english, but my aunt and uncle don't which makes things a bit more complicated because my hungarian is awful. All those tapes I've been listening to were useless. My Uncle is teaching me, but I'm a slow learner. Hugnarian is not an easy language
So then John took us to a soccer match. It was MTK versus some other team I can't pronouce. MTK is the top team in what would be the same as the british primeir league, not the same with all the money, but the same as in the top levle of football in Hungary. My granddad used to play for this team. So if you've heard hungarian before you know its sounds like people are angry when the y are talking to each other. Now try listening to 5000 men yelling hungarian. I think I was the only girl in the stands, but they let me watch because I knew the offside rules. The game was insane. On the wall there is a sign that says no fireworks, no drinking etc. Well the sign is in english, so I think that's how they get around it. BEcause people shot of flares everytime MTK scored. Very different than Aresnal, and the game was much more exicitng 5-1 for MTK. The man sitting next to me kept screaming Bosmeg, some said to him stop it because a lady is present, then he says back to them in hungarian: don't worry she doesn1t understand. Well thanks to dad, I understand that one. So I started yelling bosmeg (f*** off) and then I was accepted as a true fan. It was really crayz, but really great.
TRhe enxt day, my uncle took me to the hungarian national museum, which was FANTASTIC. Way better than the one in London. I think that's only because they have so much important recent history,. There were exhibits on the revolution, the commies, the nazis etc. The british one was on stuff from 1200 etc. Anyway after that I went to watch John, peter adn gabor play football. Half the match, then I went off with one of peter's friends to this big party that was happening in the community, and I stayed there all day. At night there was a talent competion, or as John says "talent" comeption. The best one, i nmy opinion, was watching two huingarian commandos fight each other....those guys were huge and scary. They looked like tough russkies from the movies, but scarier. Probally direct decendents from Attlia the Hun, just like you dad. Afterwards, John took me to Buda palace, at night. If you come to hungary you mut go to the palace at night and during the day. It was the most amazing thing I've ever seen. Budapest is hands down the most beautiful city I1ve been in. Words and pictures do not do it justice. You just have to see it for yourselves.
Today I went to the zoo and then walked the danube and went exploring. I'm going out to meet some of Peter's friends now and then tomorrow I'm doing a walking tour of budapest and then John is taking me to Szentendre which is an artist hotspot, full of little cafes and shops. Its like having three older brothers, and I like it. Mum and Dad, you should have given me an older brother, if you want to adopt now. I'm ok with that.
Budapest is beautiful, but hot. 36 degress yesterday. The food doesn't agree with me so I live off apples and cheese, but really that's no different than anywhere else, because I love cheese. I think I ate my weight in strawberries yesterday, delicious. Every old woman on the street reminds me of my grandmar and ever old man reminds me of Uncle frank. Hungarian men are short, so Dad you don't need to worry. Here you would be a giant ;) there are some really rich parts of this country and then some parts which are so poor. And everyone loves loves loves icecream. They sell it everywhere. The hungarian people are very nice. People go out of their way to help me, because I bviously look like a tourist. In the other countries, I tried to fit in. Here its impossible. I haven't seen one blonde hungarian...yet. I also look lost all the time, because I am.I should say most people are nice. I went to buy water from a corner store today from the creapiest man I've met so far. He was so weird and kept telling me about all the great photos he had in his back room, and how I should go and look at them. Soooo I did....joking mum. Don't worry, I'm not that stupid. And in the end he didn't charge me for water.
Ok, so that's a long post this time. I'm waiting for Peter, and I can't speak to my relatives so I'm just going to catch up on "real world" stuff for a bit. For instance, I had no idea there was a earthquake in China or huricane in Burma, and I did not know that brad and angelina were actually having twins. So obviously I'm a little out of touch.
