Hi guys,
Final installment from Fiji at last! Can't wait to get to a little civilization were hopefully I can upload my own photos instead of faking it with random views of nice things! Have just come off Malolo having spent six nights there. My room was shared with three brits, Mark, Beth and Skip, all on their way home from a year in Sydney, so I had instant company which was good. Skip was my little activities partner as it turns out I'm not the laziest person alive, who knew?! We went snorkelling in the sea one day which was good, though i didn't like realising that when I trod on what I thought was a rock it actually turned out to be a giant purple star fish, or sea star, whatever the politically correct term is for it now! Skip spent a lot of time rolling his eyes at me when I'd make the obvious observation "aargh, i'm surrounded by fish!!!", turns out the sea is full of them! Apart from that the days were spent "sunbathing" or shadebathing if we're going to be accurate, swimming in the pool, jumping off the pier and playing volleyball, which I absolutely suck at!!!!!
Skip and Beth left yesterday so I spent my final night with an eclectic group of people. Lenny, a fifteen stone South African who grew up in Australia and also lived in the states and has a portuguese granddad (he's very confused), took pity on the poor traveller and insisted on buying me double gin and tonics all night, result! There was Frank and Eileen, as couple of surfers from the OC, Aussie Mike, his sister Donna and her daughter India, who is the most confident 10 year old I have ever met! It was a lovely dinner and we boogied on the dance floor. I'm hoping to stay with Donna and India when I get to Australia but they live a good distance from Sydney so funds might not allow.
Slight disaster struck on the last night when I realised my phone had been taken from my room. I was very brave and didn't cry and reasoned all my limbs were still in tact so nothing too disasterous had happened! I filed in an incident report and this morning it was found in one of the cleaners rooms! They claimed to have been keeping it safe, but they'd taken the sim card out of it and changed my screen saver, cheeky devils! Still all's well that ends well and having just received my first phone bill (100 pounds) maybe it should have stayed lost!!!!
Off to Oz tomo and am looking forward to learning to surf and maybe losing some of these enjoyably gained fiji pounds!
Love to all. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
