So I have moved my way up the East coast a little more and found a lovely surf town named Rainbow Beach! The scenery here is very pretty with huge sand dunes and sand blows behind the beach. The place is named as the beach and its dunes are made up of many different shades of sand- abit like an orangey yellow, brown rainbow!! Apparently there are 72 shades of sand in total.
Arrived here a few days ago and have made the most of the surf and took a board down to the beach to catch some more rolling waves! Really do feel like I should star in Home and Away now! Beginning to get the hang of the surf look and now feel confident to ride the waves with the other surf dudes and dudettes!
We took a ferry over to Fraser Island, the worlds largest sand island and one of Australia's World Heritage sites. Our group was made up of 7 lovely ladies and 1 Frenchmen who soon realised he has his work cut out!! We had a great time over on Fraser island driving along the beach in 4X4 jeeps! They are so much fun to drive, I really love them!! We explored all corners of the island including a massive fresh water lake called lake McKenzie and the tip of the island Indian head.I really liked Lake McKenzie, it has the most amazing blue waters and white sand around the outside-It was quite a site, very picturesque! My favourite part had to be driving the jeep up and down the deserted stormy beach- a very atmospheric place to be! The occasional small plane and eagel would pass over us and land on the beach.
In the evening we prepared our food at the campsite, cracked open some beers (and vodka) and gave a toast to Fraser island! Then it was up early to watch the sun come up over the shipwreck and more exploring....
Our group had lots of fun with a sex book 1 of the Aussie girls brought along. Laura was very keen to teach our Frenchmen a trick or two and even read from her sex book as we cruised along in our jeep! Very amusing and think we may have scared the Frenchmen alittle!!
Today had a tour of Rainbow beach by Forrest who works at the backpackers. He took us through the unspoilt rainforests and showed us some secret lookouts to Double Point.Tomorrow is my last day and I have booked to do some diving up by Double point! It is the season for the humpback whale migration so fingers crossed I may see one of these from the boat!
Then its up the coast for more fun and adventure...will I ever make it to Cairns I ask!!!!
