Sydney wow what a great place! I've been here almost a week now and could easily stay longer. It's a tad warmer than Melbourne and has a real London feel about it with lots of businessmen rushing around the city in posh suits! Having a really good time and taking in all the usual sites including the Sydney harbour bridge and Opera House!
Have been staying at Clare's mate's house which is in Rhodes about 30mins on the train from Central Sydney! Clare or should I say Clarus has been showing me the sites of Sydney and we even went on a trip to the Blue Mountains (named because the eucalyptus plants give out a blue vapour which is the haze you see above the mountains- now there's a good scientific fact for you all!) We had to get up really early to catch a train up to Katoomba where the Blue Mountains are and from there we got on a bus to the mountains. When we first arrived the whole place was covered in mist and huge clouds and it didn't look like we would even get a glimpse of the mountains and rainforests below...We decided to take the sky train over to the other side of the mountains and then checked out the gift shop to try and buy a boomerang for my brother....amazingly when we left the gift shop the clouds around the mountains had completely disappeared and you could see the famous 3 sisters rock formations and rainforests below! Yay we were happy and went to check out all the sites!
Went on the worlds steepest train down to the rainforest (couldnt beleive how steep the track actually was, was more like a theme park ride!!!! great fun!)We then took a cable car up to Echo point where we saw the 3 Sisters. The 3 sisters were a cool site to see and we took plenty of pics with these in the background! Also saw lots of cockatiels, parrots and some scary looking birds with bright yellow eyes!
Clarus also took me to the Olympic stadium but our visit turned into abit of a spider mission as we came across a path which was full of spiders and their webs! I couldn't believe how big these babies were and to be honest I was scared! The quickest way to the stadium was down this path but instead it turned into us taking a detour and me running off from the spiders with Clare laughing at me! I'm going to have to get used to these spiders especially as their meant to be biggens in the outback eeekkkkk!!
Sydney has some beautiful botanical gardens down by the waters edge but you do have to mind out the way of joggers! The botanical gardens was full on joggers and speed walkers when I visited and I almost felt like I should slip into my shorts and join them on their lunch time jog! After checking out the gardens I went around to view the bridge and harbour from another view point! Yesterday we took a ferry around to DarlingHarbour, the views from the boat of the bridge and opera house were perfect and like the ones you see on a postcard!
Today visited Bondi beach which is about 1 hour away on the train and bus! Beach very wide and sand nice and soft! Huge waves and lots of surfers trying to ride the waves.Came across a scary lifeguard?sat on a quad bike who was shouting at swimmers to stay between the flags! Bondi very chilled with lots of nice bars and cafes lining the beach front!
Next stop Brisbane....
