Wendy rocks!
I can now surf so I'm well chuffed with myself!!!
Have been on the Sunshine Coast a week now and really like it here! The weather is perfect and scenery beautiful. You can see the Glass House mountains from many of the beaches. Have spent a day with Auntie Wendy who is up in Mooloolaba on her hols.Wendy showed me around Mooloolaba, Maroochydore and Calundra! Saw loads of the beautifu beaches, look-outs and headlands and the whole experience was filmed by Wendy on her funky videocamera! Wendy gave running commentary on each place we visited and we both agreed she had missed her vocation as a tour guide! Will show everyone the video when I return, if you want a laugh definatly take a look! Wendy is certainly a legend and so glad I went and visited her, may even see her again when she is back in Adelaide....
I have now headed up the coast and staying in a wicked Queenslander style Lodge, its one of the best hostels I have stayed in and they even do a proper English roast! So what have I been up to here?! I have been at surf camp the last few days and have now mastered the skill of surfing small waves! Yipee is soooooo exciting and you get a real buzz when you can actually stand up on your board and ride the waves! At first you swallow so much salty water and your nose hurts from sniffing it all out but in the end you master the skill! Our instructor Maxxie was really cool but couldn't beleive there was a place named Bognor Regis, he said it sounded weird!!! He made me and another English girl called Hannah compete against each other to see who could stand for the longest, not really sure who won but we had a right laugh in the process.
Yesterday I dived a wreck just off the coast of Mooloolaba, had a really early start before sunrise (early for when your a traveller anyway!!!).The dive was stunning and the vis around the front of the boat great. Was such a cool experience lying at 32m and looking up at the front of the ship...We swam through parts of the ship including the engine room and bathrooms....
Meeting loads of cool people and had some great evenings on the beach around a camp fire!We managed to smuggle some mugs out the hostel so had a few vodka and cokes on the beach...Then had a few more!
Today we visited the Australia Zoo which was pretty cool as got to pat Koala and Kangeroos, also saw a crocodile show and some dingos....
