G'day!!
Just a quick update to go with our new pictures!
Soooo.... Since i last wrote, We have done quite abit, we have been to Sydney Wildlife Centre, this was really interesting, and housed all the nasties we both hate!!! But we saw funel webb spiders (in a glass box!) and it was a pleasant suprise with how small they were - I could stand on one if I had to... I was worrying that thy were that big that if i stood on one, my foot wouldnt cover it & it wouldnt die.... But all i can say is BRING IT ON SPIDER!!!
Then we saw LOADS of snakes... they are disgusting!!! They looked really interested in Luke, for some reason though - but seeing them has made Luke more determined to find wild ones... Yuck!! and they can be found in trees in Sydney, Urgh!!!!
Here is also the home to the largest Croc in the world, REX! On our flight over to Adelaide I watched a docco about his journey from Darwin to Sydney... he travelled in a custom made box, (because he is so huge) and when he arrived in Sydney, the box was too big, they had to knock down walls, and door frames to get him in!!!
He was just floating on the surface, looking at the girl doing her talk about him... I bet he was looking forward to 'lunch!'... Anyway he was the only Crock there, and a stupid bogun was telling her child to come look at these two crocs.. IDIOT!!!
There were also Roos & Koalas, but captive ones, just dont please me as much, now We have seen wild ones.... But we did see a Koala try and escape its compound!! It climbed out of its tree, walked along the roofing, then climbed further as to escape!! Quite funny to watch, and to say they sleep for 23 hours a day - they are quite fast!!
We then went next door to the Aquarium, this was jam packed with bogans, and chinese tourists!! so we made it quick!! There is 2 underwater tunnels, the first one was full of tropical fish, stingrays and a Dugong. I thought this was a fictional character, it is so strange looking, it was definatley hit with the ugly stick at birth!! But it is advertised as "the original Mermaid" so that indicated that it is a graceful fish - more like a dolphin... But Noooooo... it plonks around, chewing his food with his mouth open and generally just a slob!!!
The next tunnel housed the crime-busters of the sea! A Few scary Sharks, and then a loveable turtle!! Awwww...
Then this weekend, i wiped off the dust on my bike, and we went on a bike ride!!!! Yes, I felt like someone was sticking needles in my thighs..... that I was sitting on fire and ...... it got us places fast!!! Bonus!! We rode over to the botanical Gardens, and up to Mrs Macquaires Chair... Its not a chair or even a bench, but just a rock, with steps carved into it where Mrs Macquarie would come and sit and watch the happening harbour, whilst listening to Guns 'N' roses on her ipod...
Its quite a sight!
Then spent the evening drinking Australian Wine, and beer with our housemates.
Sunday / today... We set sail on our Captain Cook whale watching cruise... AMAZING!! I try not to describe things as amazing, nd try to be more imaginatve.... but this just was!!! We were picked up at Darling Harbour, then cruised along, under the Harbour Bridge, and into Circular Quay, to pick up the strays, then out of the harbour to the ocean... within minutes of being out, we saw a pod of whales, the rule is if there are calves there then boats cant go any closer than 300mtrs, and if it is just adults you can get as close to them as 100mtrs... So the boat stopped, and for an hour or so we just watched the Humpback whales jumping & frolicking.... They were really launching themselves out of the water, slapping their tails and waving!! It was just unreal!!!
The next hour was abit Grey for both Luke & I... we both were turning green!!! Luke emptied his stomach and I had a little nap... I went back out on deck to see the whales, and by this time there were 6 whales, all playing around... Aparently they jump out of the water (like in the picktures) to clean themselves, to try and knock off the barnackles which are stuck on them.... clever beasts!!
Then just as the boat was about to head back into the harbour a group of Dolphins came & joined in the games... there were about 12 of them, and were swimming infront of the boat.... The day couldnt have been any better!!!
This week, is the Australian Motor Show at the convention centre, and every day they have about 10 cars on darling harbour, Yesterday it was retro American Muscle cars, today was boy racer Holden's (or Vaulxhall to you and I...) So I dont know whats going on in the convension centre if the cars are out in Darling harbour for all to see????
So I really really REALLY love being here!! But am struggling to believe its the middle of October!!
Im done for now... so Hasta Luega people!!!
Love you all,
J&L xxx
