Hi all
Well another week and hetic as ever! I will start with the weather.... Rain Rain Rain! Once I got back after the trouble in the capital at the week all it did in my village was rain. To get to work on Wednesday I had to wade through water that was above knee height which was minging water, prob a nice mixed of rain and sewage, lovely! The new boy that had just started work that day even got a leach! he he. If that wasnt bad enough on the way back down the mountain I nearly got attacked by a massive buffalo. I think it took offense to by bright pink rain coat and started going mental. The oldest man in Nepal was trying to control the buff by the small string attachted round its neck, He was getting dragged all over by the angry buff. Luckily two nepai men were walking up the hill at the same time and stood in between me and the buff as I legged it down the Hill! Not the best day by all accounts! Ha Ha
At the hospital this week I picked up some very dodgy work and have started speaking up more when I think things are wrong (for the medical ppl that includes insisting on another assessment for a child that was according to the notes was cerebral palsy but was clearly spina bifida, I was correct and the treatment has now been changed accordingly, and with another patient insisting on another xray of a fracture that I didnt believe had united but they were doing passive ROM actvities, Im still awaiting the xray so ill let you know if this here smarty pants was correct!). Other than that thou hospital work still going well and is making me very determined to be a physio in England when I return.
Today I have been at a Party with all the other volunteers at a children cente for children with aids. It was to celebrate both the centres 1st Birthday and the Womens festival. All the girls wore red, I had a local dress made in red called a kurta, and it looked lovely and we all had bangles on and tika on our heads. For a party without alcohol it was a good laugh. The kids were really cute and the local women showed us to to dance nepali style. I Think that I would have enjoyed the party even more if I wasnt mingingly hungover from the night before! Friday night was messey, cocktails and shots etc, You get the picture.
I also have a room mate at Loks house now. Shes called Jess and shes 18 going to start uni for her physio degree later this month. Shes a gymnast (cant spell that!) and she does exercise on a night - which mam you'll be gald to hear I join in with! We have a really good group in the house at the mo, everyones quite lively and after dinner most ppl crash in my room and read mags and listen to music and play cards, and occasionally have some cheeky Rocksie (Local spirt - bit rank but cheap!). So loving it even more now!
Plan is to do another extreme Jenny activity next week called cannoyning - were you absail and free fall down the path of a waterfall, should be a laugh, most of my house mates are coming, and then rafting again. And the weekend after is the elephant safari which I cant wait to do!
Well thats all for now
Love you's
Jenny
