Well, we thought Singapore Airline spoilt us, but that was until our bus to take us to kuala Lumpur gave us cookies, nuts, water and...reclining armchairs!!! No jokes. This bus rocked! Needless to say the journey was a happy one until they stamped Denises passport on the same page as Singapore...do these people not understand the aim to fill up the passports?!
The love affair with Malaysia began at the first stop where we discovered they sell Timtams (not the usual kind, but still, they are here) and Ribeena light. It extended when we found our first mall (the one in the towers) where for the first time Jenna was lost for words, managing a barely audiable "arrr" pointing at Nandos. Again, rude not to. So after wandering around the city and failing to notice all the F1 posters and cars, we casually asked a mall worker "what all this car stuff was about"...the Formula 1 girls! So we decided to get tickets in the hope of meeting a driver who would fund the rest of our trip. Jenna surpassed herself with the?question, "So are England performing in this one then?".?Off we went, dressed up for our drivers, only to find?it was?in the middle of no where and the reason the tickets were so cheap was because we had to sit in the middle of a field. The unbearable heat was worth it when we saw the first lap, stating that "we thought they went alot faster than this"...thats cos its the warm up girls! When it actaully started the first couple of laps were quite exciting, but by the 10th we were slightly bored, only being able to spot the Ferrari car, which got slightly confusing as we didn't realise there were two. When we discovered there were another 46 laps to go, we called it a day and started the long trek home, never actually finding out who won (infact, we just realised we still don't know).
Besides Formula 1 we visited China Town (although at this point still China'd out), discovered the best market in the world (Sue/Mum you would have had a field day in the wooden shop), true to form we bought loads more crap, supposedly essential to our travelling experience. Just around the corner from China town was the National Mosque where we 'found' religion. Complete with head scarf we met a lovely guy and his daughter who we chatted to for over an hour about Islam and its teachings. He even gave us a Koran each and explanation book. However, there are some aspects that would be a little difficult for us, such as the covering up, Ramadam and no alcohol. It really was so interesting, a great day, topped off with a wicked curry and 'roti'. Yum.
We loved Kuala Lumpur, any city where you can dedicate yourself to shopping, eating and drinking (we obviously fitted one night in), mixed with a bit of culture,?is our kind of place. We were sad to leave but the beach beckoned.
