Singapore Airlines never fail to make us happy with there amazing meals and Magnum icecreams, and don't even get us started on the fact you get free Singapore Slings...well it'd be rude not to indulge.
We were still discussing the amazement when we came through the gates to find the lovely Reg waiting for us. Yes, again we were spoilt rotten (thanks to our mum-down-under never ending connections) with Sue and Reg putting us up for our entire stay. Unfortunately didn't get to meet Sue as she was back in Oz, but she was there in spirit, having written down loads of advice for places to visit...thankyou! To say there place wasn't like our normal standards is an understatment. There was a gym (we managed it twice, then we nearly died), a pool which had a jacuzzi and 'apparently', according to Jenna, played music under water (Denise never got to hear it, enough said), not to mention the apartment itself complete with soft bed, towels and an abundance of dvds (sorry again Reg for breaking the TV).
First few days were spent soaking up the luxury, visiting the local mall and supermarket, which we did fall in love with. Not only does it sell all the exotic stuff from Asia, but also...TimTams (Arnott's in general), McVities, Kellogs and Heinz. A wonder of the world...who needs the Great Wall when you have arnott's?! At that point it was decided we could also live in Singapore, although reg wasn't keen on the idea! :0) We got ourselves into gear and headed off to the famous Orchard Road for a little shopping. Again we were amazed, all the shops from around the world, inc Topshop and River Island..who needs Bluewater?! Not to mention a McCafe and Boost juice thrown in for good measure. Â
Singapore wouldn't be complete without a visit to the famous Raffles hotel and a Singapore Sling in the Long Bar. Not only do they do the nicest cocktails int he world, they also give free nuts. Singapore Zoo was also on our hit list and it rocked! You actually feel like your walking through the animals home rather than a zoo as there are no cages. Denise nearly cried when she saw Orangutans and when there was a chance for pics there was no holding her back. We also fitted in the Night Safari which was amazing. However, Jenna was actaully booed by a crowd watching a leopard as the flash on the camera went off (she insists it was an accident, although she bought a frame for the pic after!)
We loved Singapore, its clean, the food is amazing, we had a fantastic apartment to stay in and great company. Sad to leave but Malaysia awaits.
