Kia Ora. We thought we'ld check in and say "hello" and "goodbye" from New Zealand. You'll have to excuse us if we don't update our journal for a while, we'll be sunning ourselves (oh and learning to play volleyball-we suck) in Fiji, yes we know it's a hard life! New Zealand has been fantastic, the weather lovely, the scenery beautiful and varied and the people friendly (all except alittle kiwi guy down in Queenstown-you know who you are! haha...he was fantastic).
We've spent the last week or two exploring the North Island which is very different from the South in terms of business, towns here are actual towns with more than one shop and a pub and a road leading to no-where. We've been inland alot more up north, rather than driving along the coast so the scenery has been very different. Been up in the North island has given us chance to have a good catch up with our safari friend Anthea (our adopted sister) and family we didn't even know existed. We travelled over to Cambridge and Papamoa to see Grandad Eddie's aunt and her family, who made us feel very very welcome-our family tree has suddenly become alot more complex, it's forever growing and taking up lots of paper, but we're so glad to have had chance to see them and get to know them.
What else have we been up to......? Well...umm.... we've covered ourselves in mud at natural mud pools, bathed ourselves in water from natural hot springs, climed mount Eden to see Auckland from above (which was really pretty), Josie and Dad have rafted over a 7m waterfall and nearly had there heads taken off by over hanging trees as they white water rafted (fear not nan, i am not decapitated, p.s i think my insurance would cover it if i was), and dad, ZO and Jakey went to see some of New Zealand's top reggae bands. Oh yes, Bridgey and Zo just happened to stumble on two sperm Whales and a pod of 500 dusky dolphins, which was incredible, the most amazing sight ever-we're just sorry we weren't able to catch it on camera. Ummm.....oh yes we've thrown ourselves out of a plane at 12,000feet....even Bridget....all in a day's work eh.
We've also had to say a few sad good-byes to some dear friends-Matilda (our beloved van who looked after us and kept us safe in New Zealand), Phil (we miss you loads-by the way you are so wrong it's Australasia), Anthea (see you in Nelson), our new found family (thankyou for looking after us-Christine the scones were lovely) and Zo and Jakey who we finally managed to shake off.haha, only messing.....you know the rest. Bye bye daddy, have a safe trip.
So goodbye for now. lots of love.XXXX
