We're on the road to nowhere (the song, not literally on the road to nowhere-although at times it has been the case). We left Sydney a week or so ago with a tag along in the way of an Irish mad man that we met in Fiji and bumped into again in Sydney- he's great really, a real 'gas ticket' as he calls us. Things didn't quite get off to the smooth start that we'd hoped, we picked the car up on saturday with the plan to head to the beach but it was pouring down, we went on a detour of Sydney, going the opposite side of Sydney to where we'd wanted-all in the hunt for petrol!
Sydney bridge has been open 75years so on the sunday night a bunch of us from our backpackers headed over to the bridge to do the bridge walk in celebration of its birthday-it was quite something with the bridge lit up and hundreds of people walking over the bridge which for the day was closed to the usual masses of vehicles that pass over it. The bridge became a sea of orange hats and little white lights (worn by the walkers), we've got some cool photies which we will eventually put on the website.
Monday was the start of our adventures-quite literally. The morning got off to a bump start- as somebody, who shall remain nameless....Bridget left the lights on in the car for two days-obviously the battery was as flat as a pancake. We asked some friendly local guys to give us a bumpstart but to no avail so had to sit and wait patiently for our saviour-a roadside assistance man to arrive. We took the car back to the place where we got the car from and they changed the battery-it must have been dodgy, well that's what Bridgey says. With that sorted we headed off. We picked up supplies (which took alittle longer than anticipated) and made our way along the coast of New South Wales. So far our humble abodes have been the beach, the mountains, the lakeside, the national park and inside GT (our baby-our car). GT stands for both gas ticket -as Eric constantly calls us and Gin and Tonic which has been much needed on several occasions. To name but a few: the day we decided to off road and got nicely stuck in mud, but don't worry dad the blonde bimbo's were put away and we rolled up our sleeves, revved the engine and got ourselves out. A gin and Tonic was also needed the time our wheel decided to blow up, luckily all that training you gave us dad paid off and we had it changed in no time at all.
Besides the mechanical fun we've had fun of other descriptions- we've been walking in national parks, seen beautiful coastal views, colourful parrots out in their natural environment, had wombats investigate our tent and beaches to our selves. We've lay on the bonnet of our car watching the beautiful starlit skies and done yoga (of some description) on the beach.
We'd better head back now, our tent will be missing us. we'll have more tales to tell very shortly. TAke care everyone, miss you all.XXX
