Yaye, finally in a secluded beach resort, also known as "Flower Beach Resort". When I last posted I was sitting a waiting to check out. Now I am sitting a few hundreds kilometers further south on Bohol. The weater is still warm as hell and its around 9:21 PM, swetting my pants off here. Even more than in Manila where they had actually aircon.
So, after I blogged the last time I was sitting in my hotel, I went with a taxi to the airport. Streets were of course nearly empty because of the big holiday still going strong, but like halfway to the airport we encountered a car "accident". A taxi driver had, by the looks of the way the chinese / japanese tourist were acting, intentionally let his car being torpedoed by one of the 6 rented tourist cars. The whole thing was one big show, where the police had occupied 2 out of the 3 lanes, and the confused / angry tourist was having a screaming fight at the "innocent" taxi driver. The taxi driver slowed down and got the whole story from one of the policemen. After he had his small chat with the guy he sped up and told me that, sometimes, when people in rented cars ( usually tourist ) seems to be unaware in the traffic the intenionally let themselves get hit by them, so they can soke up some money, for the impending "lawsuit". He also told me that it was an old trick, and if the taxi havent been survier damaged the tourist was not getting any fine other than the bill they had to pay to the car rental service.
Rest of the trip to the airport went smoothly, and I was there way ahead of time. The Centinial Philippine Air, terminal 2, is pretty profesional, except for the fact that the security is the same as the fence around a kindergarden. It might not be an international terminal, but seriously, anyone could carry a gun through. Or atleast that is how I saw it. Maybe they had something hidden up their sleves... The terminal was okay, their only smoking area was build in with a cafe on a 4x4 area, about the same size as the ones in "Doha international airport. I wonder how early the personal in that cafe get lung cancer. Oh right, and the domestic smoking cafe was not totally filled, but the international was full everytime i came back to smoke in the 2-3 hours I was waiting in the terminal.. yrk.
The flight from Manila to Bohol was normal, though their airport was extremely tiny. Did not see any security other when leaving the small area they called an "airport". Cannot remember if I said it in the earlier blog, but I did manage to contact the resort and they offered to get me 88 km from their location in the airport. For some reason my driver was a little impatiente, so he got past the non excistent security and found me while i was waiting for the baggage to arrive. A sturdy guy, with a big smiley face led me outside into the parkinglot, where i was expecting a smelly little taxi, but instead a big ass american jeep, with nice seats, first good looking and well kept car I have seen so faar. Suprisingly the roads on Bohol is better maintained than the ones in Manila, so the 88km was a smooth ride, high speed except for numerious crowds of churche goers who was again hurdle outside every church we passed. The driver was also very chatty, with a good vocabulary in the english language, plus he had a lot of knowledge of Bohol, which the manager at the resort later told me, was because he is also a tourguide for the resort.
So we arrived 1-2 hours later at the resort. As I said, its location is very secluded and the only sound you can here is the symphony of insects in the area. The resort is placed right down to the beach with a small white beachfront and a little diving store at the side, which I am planning to use the next couple of days. The manager, an old german man who have married a philippina, was standing in the reception to welcome me, something he does to all his guest. He is a also a very chatty character, and with his german accent he explained me how everything was working around here. He showed me down to my cottage right next to the water - a few trees in the way for a beautiful view, but he said it was else the house would be more expose to hard winds or weather. I unpacked and was about to walk back to the restaurent when i noticed a little plat form the opposite way of the mainbuildings. They had build a little terrace out from some cliffs, where I sat down and enjoyed a bottle of water and a cigaret, trying to catch the last sun beams from the sunset.
They had a kinda odd system for their meals. What you do is that either, one of the waiters finds you somewhere around on the resort, or you can head up to the restaurant and wait there for 50mins to get what ever you desire ( that is if you dont pick the "daily" menu which is prepared and ready from around 19 PM. I forgot to make it clear, the resort is not that big, think they have 16 rooms. So the dining area can accommodate around 30-40 people. Maybe less. The deal with the restaurent is to make it like home. All the guests eat around the manager who each evening comes and talks to the guest. They are trying to make it a more personal experience dining with them. Food was delicious, and while I enjoyed i listened to advice from the manager, his wife and a young dutch couple sitting further down who had alot of experience and stories they wanted to share. After dining he invited me to a "local schnapps" which is made out of coconut, tasty and soft, not like the ones you can get in denmark.
So faar a nice place, tomorrow i intend to explore the rest of bohol, maybe get back to Tagbilaran which is the "capital" of Bohol and also center of all tourist shops and centers, to get myself a camera. How is the weather at your place? Here it certainly feels like 30 degrees, and its like 10 PM now.
