Up early again!!! Heading for the coast. First stop Solitaire, a small town renowned for its Apple Pie. Today we were exploring the area of Sossusvlei, known for its amazing sand dunes. To get to see the sunrise from on top of a sand dune we were up at 0430. This was undoubtedly worth it and after a difficult scramble to the top of Dune 45, one of the two dunes that you are permitted to climb, we sat to watch the sun come up amongst the other dunes. Today was a transit day from Fish River Canyon to Sesriem. We left early and stopped briefly at some small towns along the way, Bethanie and Helmeringhausen. These towns have a strong German influence which is really odd in the middle of Africa. Along the way we are starting to see some good wildlife, a few zebra's and gemsbok. Arrived at the campsite by 1600 and enjoyed some downtime for the rest of the night.
