Another early start...... Traveling past Brandberg Mountain, the tallest mountain in Namibia at 2573m. Our first stop was a traditional village of Himba people just out of Kamanjab. The women in these tribes paint themsleves in ochre mixed with animal fat as a beauty regime. They never shower and continue to live in mud huts. Beautiful people, but so difficult to imagine living like this. From here we made our way to the camp site at the Othitotongwe Cheetah Park. Here they keep domestic cheetahs, those that can no longer live in the wild. We walked in behind the gates and could sit and pat them, unbelievable to be so close. Then after setting up camp we went to experience feeding time out in the main area where the less domesticated cheetahs are kept. We all piled into the back of a ute thinking we would go down to the fence and throw meat over. Little did we know that once we arrived at the gate, it was opened and we drove through. Out of the bushes, one by one they came, as if stalking the ute. We drove for a few hundred metres and by the time we stopped there were 17 cheetahs staring us down! We watched them eye off each other and fight over the fresh donkey that was thrown at them. All in all a true African experience, one that will never be forgotten. :)
