Hi all you faithful bloggees out there in cyberspace. We had a fabulous day in Florence yesterday which could be summed up with the words "antiquities art and endless shopping." Today as we pack to leave we are struggling to get our suitcases shut again . Handbags and boots of leather . My feet hurt though after all the walking . It was the 440 steps to the top of the dome bell tower that got me. But the view was worth it. We have a new catch phrase though. When my knees and thighs stiffen I call it a touch of "lactic acid intolerance". People have been most kind though helping me down steps that were a bit dicey . Seeing David in the Academy was a highlight . Took lots of illegal photos . Managed to chat up a young Italian boy at a deli who said he would like to go to nz one day . He gave me free cheese on my sandwich . The best Italian cheese he said called pecorino fiore sardo. His name was Larry. Still working the magic . Cheese was delish. We ate the sandwiches while we waited in line to see the David. The crowds were way less after 5 pm which is a good tip for those coming to Florence . If you reserve it's another 4 euros each. We are watching our pennies after yesterday's shopping trip. It was sunny and warm yesterday and we lay in the Bobilo gardens in the shade for a while. The Pitti palace was amazing . I will send photos when I get to Rome. About to leave hotel for train station . Arrivederci
