Hello from Delhi...
At this precise moment, I'm sat under a canopy at my hotel in Chitwan National Park in Nepal, overlooking the river, watching elephants, buffalo and keeping an eye out for some tigers! Have been so so busy to update you all, sorry! So I arrived in Delhi safe and sound! The first night was a little scary and overwhelming so I sat in my hotel restaurant looking onto the street just people watching! So many cows roaming the streets! The next day I got a guide from the hotel to take me around the sights - visited a stunning mosque called Jama Masjid where I had to wear a bright pink wrap (which looked like a granny coat, not flattering in the slightest)! It was so good to walk around there and watch the everyone chanting and reading the Qur'an! They had loads of canopies for the midday prayers and it was all just laid out perfectly! It was commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, who was the builder of the Taj Mahal and was completed in 1656! It's the largest and best known mosque in India and it's built out of red sandstone and white marble! Just a little history for you! After that I crossed the road and went into Red Fort which served as the residence of the Imperial family of India and it was built by the same guy who built Jama Masjid and the Taj! There is a few pavilions inside the courtyard and they were amazing! Walked around for a bit and people were just loving me, parents came up to me and kept asking me to shake their childrens hands and have pictures with them! One girl ran up to me and asked if I was famous, totally could have had her going with 'Yes I'm on Corrie' but I felt bad and just laughed it off! Next was Humayans Tomb and that was just WOW! Got some beautiful photos from these places! They really know how to make stunning buildings over here! There was such a pretty girl about my age, wrapped up in a turquoise sari, sat on the grass singing away, watched her for ages! She was gorgeous, the little boys hanging out there, not so much! They started dancing around me, so I had a little boogie with them and the cheeky buggas grabbed my boobs and then ran off!! They were like 7/8... shocking!! After my traumatic experience there I had a walk around Raj Ghat which is a memorial for Ghandi, it was a black marble platform that marks the spot of Ghandi's cremation! Had to take my shoes off for this one (at 2pm - freaking boiling!) and burnt the bottom of my feet! These people must have feet of leather walking around like that all the time! The driver took me over to the Baha'i House of Worship, the Lotus Temple! It was just stunning! Inside was so peaceful and there were rows and rows of people sat there taking it all in! Everywhere here is just another world! I got to India Gate for my last bit of the tour and everyone pounced on me! People wanting to take my picture, selling jewellery, asking for money! Some little girls chased me asking if I wanted henna and dug her nails in me when I said no! What a horrible little girl! I was bleeding and everything!! What a crazy day! The next day I went over to the new hotel and met my tour group! What a lovely bunch of people!! On to Jaipur we go...
