Sunday in Paris
Today we set off after a late breakfast for a market in the 7th Arrondissement South of the Seine. Arrived about 11 am to a much improved day. Loads of Parisians sitting out having petite dejeuner. Charming little street with boulangerie, fromargerie, boucherie, patisserie, greengrocer (don’t know the French for that) etc. etc. We bought some mini donuts filled with caramel, lemon curd, chocolate etc. for a snack then walked down towards the Seine then back to the market where we bought something for our picnic lunch. Jane and I shared a baguette and Paul and Kevin had one each. Also Jan and I shared the most divine Mille Fuille while Kevin bought some Macaroons. What a picnic!!
We were actually looking for somewhere to watch the finish of the Tour de France but of course were confronted by thousands of people all jockeying for a vantage point. We walked for miles until we found a place, by which time we were all b*****ed, hot and over it. There would have been at least a 2 hour wait until they would have flashed past several times, so opted to go home and watch on TV. How is that for a pack of elderly pikers!!! Got home and managed to find a TV channel all in French and sat in the comfort of our apartment with a few cans of beer and watched the lot, front seat, not interruptions.
We are all trying not to nod off before we go out and find a place for dinner. What a big day – miles of walking and we all holding up pretty good.

claire We were looking forward to seeing you on TV watching the Tour de France finish - The food you chose for picnic sounds delicious - how's Paul's leg - must be much better now seeing you are able to do all that walking. Taking David to hosp this morn for chest xray. - but I think his health is improving now. - Claire
