Hi everyone!
I know, it has been a few days but we've been travelling non stop and the internet connection on the islands isn't always that great.
So, after we took the boat from Ko Tao to Surat Thani, we were picked up by a bus at the pier to go to Krabi town. We heard there isn't a lot to do in Krabi except from the Ao Nang beach, which is very touristy, so we decided to only stay 1 day and 1 night in Krabi Town itself. We went to the nightmarket there, which in the end are only some stands of food. Good food and pretty cheap tho! There were also some really nice relaxing bars in the town! But much more than this we didn't really see of Krabi.
So from our guesthouse (P.N. Guesthouse, clean and private room, cheap) we were picked up by a minibus and were brought to the pier in Krabi where we took a boat to the beautiful Phi Phi Islands!
Really, this was worth it! I would recommend you all to go to this destination! The first night we decided to stay in Long Beach, for which you have to take a longtailboat to reach it. Nota bene: you always have to take longtailboats to go to different beaches on Koh Phi Phi, there are no connecting roads since the mainland are all hills, rocks and jungle! We stayed in a bungalow with see view called Phi Phi Hill. Lots of stairs, but worth the view! There is a nice bar as well with the cheapest beer on that beach. We spend a well deserved day on the beach!
The second day on Koh Phi Phi, we planned to go a little bit more in the centre and ended up in Ao Lo Dalam, in the Cozy Beach Resort. A little bit more in the centre you can definitly say! The beach is only a five minute walk from the pier in Tonsai City. During the walk to our bungalow we saw the lively city! Lots of shops, restaurants, travel agents and bars! The resort was very nice, also a bungalow with sea view. At night we went to discover a bit of the nightlife on Ao Lo Dalam! Very loud and busy is the perfect description! Lots of nice lightshows on the beach as well :)
The third day on Phi Phi we took an excursion to see some other islands and beaches and to snorkel. If you want to get an excursion like this, watch out 'cause they'll try to wrip you off! The cheapest we could find was 500 Bath, from a German travel agent. But we've also seen the same tour for 800Bath, so walk around for a while before deciding where to book! You have breakfast and lunch included. The tour took us first to Shark Bay, where we could snorkel for half an hour. Afterwards the longtailboat brought us to Monkey Beach, where wild monkeys just walk around (watch out you don't get bitten!), than to Bamboo Island, which is a protected national park where you had to pay 100Bath entrance. It was a very beautifull beach with white sand and crystal clear blue water. After Bamboo Island, the boat drove by Viking Cave, which was not that spectacular as expected. Than we finally went to Maya Bay, where the movie The Beach was filmed! First he made a stop in Maya Bay without the beach where we could swim and snorkel. Very amazing place! Than he took us to the Maya Beach for what we all took to tour for! It was a bit disapointing tho, since it became way too touristy! But still, we were at the beach where Leonardo Dicaprio was! After drivig around all these islands and bays, we just made another little stop in the middle of the ocean to watch the beautiful sunset!
It was an amazing day, one not to forget!
