Hi everyone, so today we woke up around 9.30am, packed and checked out at 11 from our hostel, we left our luggage there which we are going to pick up again tomorrow so we just had our rucksaks to take down to Miyajimaguchi.
We got on the loop line to Osaka station and then on to Shin-Osaka station. After working out the 3 different shinkansen lines we found the rite one, i will upload the video sometime whilst im here. Bullet train!!!!!!!!!!!! These things are crazy we did 300 miles in about an hour and fifteen minutes!! whatttt. They look like they should be on Star Trek.
We arrived in Hiroshima and had a cheeky McDonalds in the station as we had no breakfast. It was raining.. for the first time and the forecast is not so good for the next week, even though it is summer here it is the rainy season!
We caught a local line from the station to Miyajimaguchi and checked in at our next hostel. There was a monsoon going down outside. We went to the local shop, bought an umbrella and massive anorak thing and got on the ferry to Miyajima Island.
Miyajima island is a world heritage site and was taken of the potential A-Bomb list in world war 2 because of its beauty. The floating shinto torii gate is at the front of the island and you can walk up to it at low tide..so we did :D. That and the Itsukushima shrine date back to the 6th century! They also have wild racoons and deer which are free to do what they like on the island and we saw one just walking down a street! hahaha. This island is amazing, the main temples we couldn't take pictures of as there was not enough light and had all closed by the time we got there.
It was getting quite dark just after we got there so i took as many pictures as we could in the pouring rain and we are going to try again tomorrow before we leave for Kyoto!!
