Finally getting round to second Japanese entry, despite leaving 6 days ago. The remaining 2 days in Japan were made up of yet more sight seeing and, obviously drinking! On the night of the last entry we went out to Roppongi. Had a few drinks with a guy called Aleni from Brisbane (now nicknamed 'the boy' due to his uncanny knack of loosing something if left alone for only a small period of time- drinks vouchers and metro tickets to name just two). Last train back is midnight, so not too heavy a night, but enough to sample a few beers, bars and of course Guinness in an irish bar!!
On the Thursday we rented cycles for the day (costing a whopping 200 yen- about 95p!) and tore up the streets of Tokyo. Here, we visited Akihabara (cheap electricals and bright lights galore) and Ueno (old Japan- markets and traditional Japanese business). After sampling a bit of Japanese lunch we parked up and trecked our way through the bargains of Akihabara looking at electricals we couldn't afford (despite a saving of upto 50 percent for things such as laptops, compared to England!) Money saved for more alcohol though! Afterwards it was Ueno, where we walked through the bustle of the markets taking pictues and films, as bemused Japanese looked on! A very fun day with no crashes or maimed Japanese!
We then started out on what was supposed to be a gentle night- which turned out into 'tokyo-had a drink have we...!', where the laughing Japanese barman starts selling 96 percent proof alcohol (or 4star unleaded as we call it back home!). The night turned messy- getting lost on Tokyo metro- tuning in at 11am - loosing our last day to sleep! Would like to tell more... but have a touch of Mike Baldwin syndrome from the night!
So then Saturday comes and its sayounara(think thats how you spell it) to Japan. Would definitely like a revisit to sample more of Japan, outside Tokyo.
Next stop- Bangkok!
