In Adelaide, we decided to have a stop for a couple of days after our mammoth drive back from the outback. On our day off we did a bit of shopping, and I decided to sort my hair out... 8 months and no cut, it was getting a bit out of control. After spending the night parked by the river again, we set off for Canberra, our last stop before Sydney. Wasn't a straight forward drive again, as the van decided she'd had enough, and the clutch went on the freeway about 100km's outside of Canberra. We sat on the edge of the freeway waiting for the mechanic for ages and when he finally turned up he siad it was fine and that we could make it to canberra to get it looked at properly - lazy git! We had to limp our way to Canberra, with the gears crunching the whole way. We arrived late at night, very angry with our useless van! In the morning, we got it towed to the mechanic who fixed it during the day. That evening we drove to Sydney, and back to our first stop on the road trip - Manly. We stayed in and around Manly for the remainder of our time in the van. The weather in the last week was aweful, and Sydney had the worst rain it had had for 60 year!! This did however make the surf really good, and me and Ant spent all day surfing in and around Manly. On our secong night in Manly, we took a ferry over to Sydney to meet my uncle Dave, over in Oz on buisness. Was great to see him and catch up on things. Good to hear some news from home as well. Caught the ferry back to Manly in the rain, and had dinner in the van. On the last day, we took the van back to Wicked in the morning and had a go at them for all the trouble their van had caused us! We will be getting a refund of sorts to cover the days we couldn't use the van etc...
In Sydney, we checked into a hostel, and spent the day washing clothes, cooking, chilling out. The next day and my final one in Sydney was a sightseeing one. went down to the harbourfront, and saw teh Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Amazing things, and great to see them in real life and not just in a picture. Went to the airport in the evening with Ant who was catching a plane to Brisbane at the same time as me the next morning. We slept in the airport which was an experience (a cold one!) and cought the plane to Christchurch in the morning.
