Arrived in Singapore on the 1st, home of tiger beer, tiger balm, tiger this, tiger that! Had no idea where i was, where i going, where i was going to stay?!?! So got on the metro system which is really good in Singapore to Chinatown, which i heard was a pretty cool place to see. Once there, found that all the hostels were full to bursting... good lesson to learn, book ahead! Found the only one with any room (and for a good reason!) Stay in what i would call 'The Hole of singapore'! actually called soho hotel?!? Was rough! Stayed in a dorm with about 6 or 7 other Singaporeans, who obviously couldnt afford a house so just lived in this hostel. None of them spoke english, i was the only tourist, and the place was just sh*t! But... Singapore was quite nice... very clean city, with lots to do. Went and saw the botanical gardens, and saw some of the worlds most beautiful flowers, had diner down by the Harbourfront that evening. Next day went shopping along the main shopping street - was just one shopping mall after the next! managed to ship my extra lugguage home. The next day (my last day in Singapore) i went to the Tiger beer experience where they show you the history of the beer, and how its made etc etc... managed to blag soooo much beer of of them. Chatted to the girl behind the bar who obviously wasn't busy, and she gave me so much free beer, and i poured my own pints and stuff! Came away a bit worse for wear, but felt i got my moneys worth!!! In the evening caught my flight over to Cairns, Aus. General impression of Singapore wasn't that great... maybe because of the place i was staying in... but it felt like a huge shopping centre, and if you are travelling with not a lot of money then you cant really afford to shop, so i'm glad i was only there for a few days.
