In Franz Josef, we arrived fairly late in the day, so went and had a drink in the bar before watching tv and going to bed, becasue in the morning I JUMPED OUT OF A PLANE! Woke up very early (but late as we overslept!!!) and drove to the airfield. Here me and another guy called Simon off the bus got in a very small plane, and were taken up to 12,000ft! We were given jump suits and stuff before, so we looked the part! On the way up, I wasn't scared at all really. Not sure if it was the rush of getting up and flying really high and being freezing cold, or what but it never hit me that i was actually jumping out of a plane! When he opened the plane door, I did get a bit of a rush and falling throught the air definately did give me a huge rush!!! We fell 7000ft in 45 seconds! Just incredible! The views were amazing... Franz Josef is the only place where you have glaciers moving into rainforests, and then on the other side of the forest is the Tasman Sea! And we did it at Sunrise which made it all the more spectacular! Following the freefall, it took about 4 mins in the parachute to return to earth - it was probably the best thing i have done on my trip, and in my life!

In the afternoon following my skydive, we all did an 8 hour hike up the Franz Josef glacier. We climbed up, down, through, over and under the icey cravasses! The whole area is out of this world, and beautiful. The best day of my whole trip!
