Brisbane was a very clean and busy city - did a lot of shopping, mainly for warm clothes as its getting colder and colder as we go down the coast. On the evening we were there we went to the down under bar - THE place for all the backpackers to go in Brisbane. Had a fun night and got in at about 4 in the morning. Got up the next day, nd di a bit more shopping in Brisbane before catching our bus to Surfer's Paradise. En route we went zorbing - you get in a huge ball of air and the fill it with water and roll you down a huge hill! Great fun! Stayed in a small hostel just outside of the main town - seemed like surfers was a big party town, but we were only there for one night so.... :( The next day we had a surf lesson on surfers paradise main beach - the dude teaching us was a famous coach - he's on tv and stuff and taught the whole Queensland rugby team to surf in 5 mins or something ridiculous, but he had us all standing up in about 10, so he was a bit of a legend. Went staight from the lesson to our bus to Byron Bay - our driver was CRAZY!!! So funny and made the journey go so fast - he was drag racing guys at traffic lights, and screaming stuff at other buses! I suppose you had to be there, but it was halarious!
Byron was amazing - stayed in a place called the Arts Factory (recommended by Charlie - thank you! x) I slept in a huge teepee (think thats how its spelt) which had a fire in the middle. It got very cold in the morning though, glad i had my sleeping bag! Felt very hippy! The main bar called Cheeky Monkeys in Byron was awesome - dancing on the tables, free beer, wet t-shirt competitions, what more could you ask for!!!!! Had some crazy nights there!!! Chilled on the beach on one day, explored Byron.... went to Nimbin - CRAZY! Went with Jim's Alternative Tour's - the guy was mental. Obviously a stoned Hippy who just drives backpackers to Nimbin to do what backpackers do in Nimbin... then he drives them down a really steep hill really fast to scare them senseless, then drives them to a lake to let the recover - most surreal day in Oz yet - anyone that's been to Nimbin will know what im on about!
From Byron caught my last Oz Experience bus to Sydney via surf camp. Surf camp was this small place where Oz Ex guys get accomadation and a surf lesson pretty cheap - went surfing for about 3 hours, had a bbq, then went to sleep, ready for Sydney!!!! Wooo!
